Café Danvers - French Restaurant in East Harlem

welcome to 100th street

It all began with a single, perfect recipe of Chocolate Mousse…

In 2020, MOJO Mousse Bar opened its doors on 100th Street and Lexington Avenue as America’s first dedicated chocolate mousse bar.

MOJO, short for Mousse by Johan, was built on the secret techniques I learned at the age of eight from my grandfather, “Bompa” Jozef, a local baker in Old Antwerp.

What started as my signature dessert for UN diplomats soon became a neighborhood sensation.
As our community grew, so did our vision.

In 2024, the magic of the mousse evolved into
Cafe D’Anvers, a full Belgian-French bistro.

While our world-famous Belgian chocolate mousse remains at the heart of everything we do, we’ve expanded the table to include the comforting, authentic flavors of my home.

Today, Cafe D’Anvers is a cozy sanctuary on 100th Street and Lexington Avenue, a place where
high-quality ingredients meet warm, genuine hospitality.

From our tallow-fried frites and shrimp croquettes to classic mussels and steak frites, every dish is a tribute to the old ways, where food is prepared with patience, care and a true Belgian soul.

I invite you to experience the journey, from that very first spoonful of mousse to the full expression of our bistro.
